Guardians of the Galaxy Zen Pinball Table Review for PS Vita

Ready to cash in on the movie's release, Marvel gets a table onto Zen Pinball! Fan service? Product placement? Read the review!

The movie is out soon, what better way to stand in line at the theater than with this new table from Zen Pinball on your shiny Vita? It's only $3, which is a lot of quality playing time. You got to hand it to Zen, they could have charged a lot more for the licensing on this game, but $3 is great.

Guardians of the Galaxy pinball brings all five members of the galaxy’s greatest crew of warriors to the pinball universe as they combat Ronan the Accuser. Beginning with a four-ball multiball as players escape the Kyln, the Guardians of the Galaxy pinball table starts off with a bang and doesn’t let up. This new table has battles with each member of the Guardians of the Galaxy team, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, and the group’s wildcard, Rocket Raccoon, as well as landmark battles against Yondu and the Ravagers, Nebula, and Ronan himself.

You might not like the beginning of this table. I felt like I wanted to get right into the action, but the "four ball multiball" beginning to every round you play feels like I wanted to just skip it after a while. Plus on the Vita, you can't zoom in on a multi ball scene, so it is harder to play. I also ran into that issue when you activate Rocket's attack mode on Ronan... Groot comes out and multi ball happens again, making it tougher to aim on the Vita's smaller screen. He kept calling me an idiot for missing.

Zen Pinball has a collection of some quality tables and this follows suit. No, they didn't snag the actors to do the voices in this game, but they're pretty believable. It's no Chris Pratt, but he'll do.

The repeated lines some of the characters say gets old quicker than on other tables. Yes, Groot, you are Groot.

But all in all, if you like pinball games and Guardians, this is a no brainer. $3 is nothing, and you get the game on all Playstation consoles.

Verdict? 7.5/10

Zen Studios does it again. The action is well set up, it is fun to get each character to battle, and easier to get to vs. other tables. You might not like the beginning style of the game, the lines are repetitive, multi ball happens more often and is harder to see on the Vita... but all in all, a fun game!
