PS4 Confirmed To Support PS Vita Remote Play

All rumors aside, the facts are laid on the table: read more inside...
Earlier today we posted an article about the rumors of remote play confirmation for all PS4 titles (excluding PS4 camera titles).

Here's the tweet from Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios, who responds to a question regarding the rumor:

Edit: There were some questions in the comment section about how Sony would address L2 and L3 buttons, so I Tweeted Shuhei Yoshida and got this response:

From all the PS4 titles available so far, which are you excited to play on your Vita?

How are we supposed to use the L2 and R2 buttons

Steve Davala said...

I've heard talk about the rear touchpad as an option

mike sanchez said...

From where? Cuz that could work but might be a little inconvenient for some games, but who knows maybe it'll work

fish said...

well thats how you play psone classics on the vita, and it is a little weird but it's not super terrible. L3 and R3 on the other hand, is a whole nother situation...

Davala said...

oh yeah that.

mike sanchez said...

Oh well i never played a ps1 classic so i didn't know but that does sound likely

SecretX said...

ps4 games are the new vita games!! whoever has a vita needs a ps4.

MGO_Vet said...

Well no shit It supports VIta remote play, they have already announced that before. They also said that when Playstation 4 was In development, the Vita was aggressively In mind.

Davala said...

Yes, it was a support for remote play, but this confirmation is that ALL games (except PS4 eye games) will REQUIRE remote play support.

Davala said...

check the post. I just got a response to a tweet I sent to Yoshida

mike sanchez said...

What do you mean check the the post

Davala said...

I updated the article and have posted a new pic in it about the tweet. refresh this page and look at the article

This is great work steve davala you actually tweeted him yourself to find out and posted a follow up article Psvita Hub is stepping up .

Davala said...

Thanks! I look forward to writing here. Seems like a good community.

No problem keep up the Good work.

mike sanchez said...

o ok thanks and good job tweeting him, and this is great because im planning on puting my ps4 in my living room but my family is in there a lot, now with remote play how close do you have to be the the system if you would know

Ichigo Kurosaki said...

Uh, no. I have a wii u and PC for this generation and I love the vita still. You don't need a ps4 just because you have a vita and streaming games in the same room is not "new vita games" it's what I just said it was. The vita stands on it's own and there are lots of great titles coming this year and more to be announced at e3 :)

Ichigo Kurosaki said...

It'll be a bust, trust me, sony is way over their heads thinking ALL ps4 games can be played with vita controls, the vita does not have all the needed buttons so this won't work out as people hope

MGO_Vet said...

Yeah NOW he says that. He re-did the post to clarify that.

Davala said...

you can stream a game from the PlayStation 4 to the Vita as long as they’re on the same Wi-Fi network.

Davala said...

No, Husnain posted the first article when it was only a rumor. Mine was to confirm the bit that all developers are required to incorporate remote play into their software.

MGO_Vet said...

Gotcha.

Josuey_de_PR1 said...

even i have a pc and im still getting a ps4, too many exclusives to miss out on, both console exclusives and first party exclsuives

Guest448 said...

to stream PS4 games you must own them first, and you do not have to be in the same room. You just need wifi connection (unless the rumored 4G model comes, since 4G can actually handle that) I've played most of my games at a buddies using his WiFi. Just both systems need to be online and unless they decide to have the PS4 NOT turn on when your Vita wants to access it, its fine.

Also, Josuey is right. too many console/1st party exclusives to miss out. As much as I love my PC, lets face it. Devs like to make updates LAST for PC when its a multiplatform title. MP games get hacked way easier than their console counterparts, and sometimes, a controller is just overall better than a keyboard and mouse. Now I have 2 controllers I can use on my PC but just not the same.

Playing God of War remotely, you use the rear touch pad since its sectioned into 4 quandrants. though @Fish is right, its kind of terrible. Its one thing to have to use it the back for L2/R2, no biggy, but having it do L3/R3 as well is not so great. sometimes you accidentally hit one thing over the other too. I'm sure the inevitable PSV redesigned will address at least 1 of the 2 issues.

Guest448 said...

Correct. Doesn't have to be the same WiFi network though, just connected but it does help out greatly when its the same network. Less lag and what not.

Josuey_de_PR1 said...

anyone forgot about the vitas mistery port? sony could easily make a "circle pad pro" for ps4 remote play

Vita Pro #47 said...

Duh, it practically has to to justify the back and forth hype of PS4 & PSVita and how they'll be compatible and whatnot with each other, not to mention that it's long been believed that this would help justify the Vita's price and lack of a price drop. This isn't news! Just confirmation of the overly obvious.

Vita Pro #47 said...

Why? We already got 2 mini anal sticks. If you're making some comparison to the 3DS, then keep in mind that a circle pad is they're alternate to analog sticks. Plus, most seem to prefer analog sticks to a circle pad, so again what would be the point? A new, probably costly, accessory for am extremely limited number of fans?

PS VITA and Assassin's Creed 4:
black flag in some caribbean Island with my followers and it's ruining ...... it will be awesome

Abdaluzez said...

And about R2/L2 R3/L3
I don't think that sony will put all of them in rear Touch , I think it will be better to put R2/L2 on a great place on the touch screen and R3/L3 on the rear touch.
I see it will be waaay beautiful if that happen because it will give u feeling that u are part of the game.

And that is fucking sick.......

bubby bubbins said...

Sick in a good way or bad cuz...if what i understand is correct the vita would not need to be nearly as powerful as it is to just stream games...so if streaming ps4 games becomes its bread and butter then all the hardware i paid for is a waste of my time and money, cuz i aint gettin a 4 for at least five years

Elronza Williams Jr. said...

Great job Steve! And this is some over due wondrous news to all PlayStation owners.

George Buchs said...

Please does anyone no what speed WiFi speed you would need for it not to be laggy.I have slow internet as of my location it is 120ping and 1mb download and 1mb upload is that to slow thanks

Johnny Garcia Campos said...

In a bad way bro, in a bad way......

Vita Pro #47 said...

Is wi-fi required? It'd seem like it wouldn't be required, simply sync ones Vita with a PS4. Not to sound like a tech dino, but not everyone has online and/or wi-fi. What about us?

Vallmont said...

Its a great look for sony......

shack180 said...

Gotta wait till its released

Davala said...

indeed it is!

So.. in other words my vita has to be 3G or that I have to have a wifi connection strong enough to stream the game.. Unlimited wifi access that is.. which will drain my money if ever I wanted to try this idea outdoor with no free wifi..

Well, on the other hand Good idea on Sony side though.. I mean, if you travel allot, or have a long journey, you can just fish your psvita out.. Even when you happen to work overseas or when you have a home away from where you worked, leaving your ps4 behind has never been better.. Makes me giddy thinking about it.. At least I can finish my back log when I am on vacations...

But, I wonder how the PS4 will fair if say I am away for like a week or more and I keep the power button on for so long? Unlike handheld devices which is a little more simpler in construction... PS4 consumes more energy thus emits more heat which might doubles the rate of YLOD?.. If that were to be the case it will not be long before it decided to bid me goodbyes..Then, this idea may not be as feasible as we think.. The machine cost a substantial amount in most of our pockets.. Oh well, I pray it will not come to this.. Great idea robbed away by technical faults..

Resolution shouldn't be a big factor in this situation O__O I dont think they'll reduce the res that low to the point where it would matter. Reminds me of the the one Crytek employee.........

Johnny Garcia Campos said...

They will interpolate the resolution from ps4 to native vita resolution, it will be the best graphics we have seen so far on the vita.

What bugs me is that the best titles released so far, for vita not remote play, do not use full res and they give excuses like its best to have low res and higher anti-alias...or that they cant fit it all on 4gb or the best one, vita cant handle full res with anti-alias and that makes me wonder....whats the point then...the thing cant handle its own juice ? 0.o

Smoosh said...

We won't need a 4G model for remote play, as most current 4G cellphones have a "wifi hotspot" feature.

This is why I skipped the 3G model.
You can just tether to the netwerk.

VITAFEVA said...

YES KOOL BEANS,KEEP UP THE FRESH NEWS PSVITA HUB!!! I ALWAYS COME HERE FIRST THEN IGN! SO KEEP IT HOMIES :)

Mcdonalds said...

Remote play over 4G is kind of stupid, that will kill your data streaming for just an hour

Matt said...

It would be much faster (and it's probably what they'll do) to connect the Vita directly to the PS4 treating the PS4 as a wireless AP. This would require you to be within a certain distance of the ps4.
