This is just Japan.

It does not really matters. Because I live in Canada. Ps vita could be like how Xbox is like in Japan.... I want it to be do good in NA so good games can be ported

Isnt this like saying the mega CD outsold the virtua boy?

Both will flop like a fish on sand

Except the Vita is actually an excellent console with several good games and can only improve. The wii u doesn't matter at all as long as nintendo gets a couple of solid first party games on there it's going to be liked.

well my opinion is that the reason why's that because the prize drop, im not sure, correct me if im wrong, and japan has way more games on vita than U.S. or EU. if games or atleast memory cards would be cheaper vita would outsell 3Ds.

I still have a mega CD and still play it today...played it yesterday with a few friends on final fight. Anyway like the other reply says - The vita is the most powerful useful handheld ever made its perfect. The PSP didn't have the greatest start and look at that now.

I have just recently purchased a 3ds and so far the only game I am enjoying is mario kart. Zelda I prefer on n64 and I really don't like kid icarus. I prefer the psp version of MH (on the vita).

Yes...Yes...Yes....YEESSS!!! *snaps out of it*

Seriously now, people really have to realize that a great deal of PS4's awesome functions will only be possible with a Vita. If you're planning to get a PS4, Vita becomes a must. If Vita keeps succeeding and triumphs hard all over the place, this next gaming generation will be SEX!

Vita did well for what was the 3ds week of Top titles. I hope this pattern continues!

Jin Jinathin Pitts said...

Long as they bring some cross buy games for ps4/vita it will be alright

Sabaki08 said...

As far as I know, all the PS4 games will be playable on the Vita as long as you can connect it to some wi-fi or if you have the 3G model.

Sano said...

Actually, why does it really matters? If Vita sells well in Japan, it means that more companies can be interested in the portable, what can mean, also, more and interesting games being produced. It doesn't matter if the Vita's owner live in Brazil or Canada, we need more games.

Sano said...

But Sony said that about conections between PS3 e Vita too... Later, just some games would function through remote play in Vita. Lastly, we have today just silly games that run in our portable, except God of War collection. Remote play will run like promessed with PS4 games?

Sano said...

Truth. The formula is, actually, very simple: prize drop (games and memory cards) and more games. But several good games are gonna to be released this year, like Soul Sacrifice and Killzone. There are others already released, like Sly Cooper and Dead or Alive.

Sabaki08 said...

Definitely! I have no doubt about that. Vita was created to announce the PS4. Vita was created FOR PS4. This handheld will interact with the console in unimaginable ways. I have no doubt we'll all be blown away by what Vita and PS4 could do together. They tried to connect and still try to connect it with the PS3 just to get their warming up. The mere glimpse at what this sort of interaction between these 2 system is like that Sony gave us, will take the form of the perfect thing when the PS4 launches.

Did you read the numbers? It outsold the 3ds as well.

Actually it matters, If the Vita doesn't sell well in a certain region then games would not be ported to that region.

"Unfortunately, at this present time we don't have any plans to release any of the Vita titles [in the west]. One of the main reasons is, unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it's one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it's something we could consider." - Hideo Baba, The producer and director of the Tales series

People are still buying PSPs & Wiis?

perfectDemon said...

Yeah... Wii U got raped again by the vita, so it is SEX... lol

ghostshadow said...

It does matter. Japan is Sony's biggest market, that's where their HQ is located. If the device isn't doing well in their own region, they have a problem. Since it is now a success, it's means they can broaden their reach to other markets and countries. Large profitable games like Monster hunter are made and distributed in Japan before they are published anywhere else in the world. If they have a strong market, the chances are, they are more than likely to develop these types of games that people want. I used monster hunter as an example because it seems to be a very desirable game for many vita owners.

i have a feeling they (although they could do it) limited the remote play so the ps4 has one extra bonus selling point

slickks said...

Games are still being developed for the PSP in Japan, believe it or not.
A lot of developers are still scared to develop exclusively for Vita because PSP still has a strong following and only now has the Vita's following increased.

oops! said...

Yes and No, 3DS + 3DSLL Sales means about 75,000 3DS total sales last week, compared to Vita's 41,000. So it technically didn't outsell the 3DS because you didn't add their numbers together :P

Jin Jinathin Pitts said...

Have you not read articles about Japanese devs? They won't port the game to America just because they won't see the point of profit at all because they believe NA sales are low. And lets say monster hunter is out in Japan for vita. Do you really think NA is going to get it? Look at what happened to monster hunter portable 3rd. Never got a chance to get ported to NA at all...

Elronza Williams Jr. said...

I always knew it was just a matter of time before the Vita's sells improved, just like the psp before it.

PSNintyGamer said...

It outsold the 3ds one week in March. The other weeks it got outsold by the 3ds. You have to add both models since they are the same system.

Spade Ace said...

if games like dragonball z and naruto dont hit the vita soon im going to kill some.fifa is a let down assassins creed got boring very quickly and deamd or aliv is not what im looking for. we need better developers instead of these useless third rate companies, y cant we get far cry 3 ported over the vita looks better and runs better than the wii u, y does the wii u have better games, it eally makes no sense.

ghostshadow said...

Well yeah, that's true. But I think that's slightly unfair considering there are two 3ds systems and one Vita. Even though the XL has the same components as the smaller version, except for screen size, it's meant for a totally different audience. I would think it would be more fair if the 3ds was being compared to the vita or just the xl sales figures. If they combine them both, then it's obviously going to be tough for the Vita to surpass them. But you do have to admit, the Vita is gaining quite a bit of traction and it's doing pretty darn well (finally) it's getting close. I think that's pretty impressive considering the future of the device was looking fairly bleak a couple of months ago.

PontusG said...

People, the PS4 isn't raping the WiiU, how the fuck is that even possible when it hasn't even been released? I recently got a Vita, and I fucking love it, I actually enjoyed it more than the 3DS, but i think the majority wants Nintendo, not saying this as a fan, it's just a feeling I got.

oops! said...

I don't know if you can say they are for totally different audiences because it's the same system with the same library of games with just a different size screen... Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that the vita sales are increasing (40,000 units compared to the starting 8,000 units... awesome, indeed) but if the 3DS XL wasn't available, it's possible that the 3DS sales would still be higher in the 60-65 thousands. (assuming that some of the units sold are people who bought a 2nd 3DS for the bigger screen).

Again, very happy that the Vita is starting to pick up, but it's still got a ways before it trumps the 3DS in Japan.

Is this your way of running away from the truth?

Overlord Laharl said...

It bothers me when a handheld is compared to a console.

ghostshadow said...

The XL is definitely for different people. I have seen more adults purchase the 3DS XL over the normal 3DS due to the size of the system itself because it's more to the size of the Vita, it's much more manageable in hand for adults than the regular size is. To some, the larger display and overall system girth is just too much. For others, the original is too small or sharp and pointy. While it's still the same system, it's definitely made for a different crowd. People that wouldn't otherwise buy a 3DS are buying the XL because of the added size in screen and more spread out controls.

I don't think that the sales figures would change much if the XL wasn't available. The people that bought into the XL bought into it for a reason, those same people probably wouldn't be buying a regular 3DS unless they really had no other option.

I could be wrong, but I am just going from what I have seen and have talked to others about. Several guys that run a podcast that I am a part of both purchased 3DS XL's when they came out because of the added real estate, they refused to purchase the regular 3DS due to it's small size and "cramped" controls. I feel that may be the case for many 3DS XL owners.

ghostshadow said...

No. I don't see how I would be running away from any "truth". Unlike most people on the internet, I can admit when I am wrong. However, I don't see how I am wrong. It's just a difference of opinions. Nothing wrong with that.

Diamond Ammo said...

You cant admit that 3ds and the xl one are the same system, they do count, So the 3ds is still outselling vita by a good amount but however the vita is selling decently now so it really don't matter now.

I hope for a price drop at e3 2013! i already got a vita but a price drop would mean more sales in the west. Oh and the memory card prices need to drop, you see the problem when I can get a 32 gig sd card for 3ds for 35 dollars while on vita it's 100?

ghostshadow said...

Re-read my comment. I said they were the same system, they have the same components other than screen size. haha..

I agree, I hope we see a price drop around E3 too, it seems like there's lot's of potential for it to sell well over the summer if the price gets dropped. Families buying them for road trips and vacationing, new games coming out at the same time, it seems like the perfect time to cash in. I hope they do it. I'd love to see cheaper memory cards too, it's pretty outrageous to be able to buy a 64gb micro-SD for $58 new, but pay over $100 for a 32gb Vita memory card!

Sabaki08 said...

Yep, that's a good way to look at it.

JustinConstantino said...

that was more becuase game sales than number of psps sold

JustinConstantino said...

dude its becuase streaming donstn work very well with the ps3 due to hardware, and software limits. they wanted to but it caused all sorts of issues, not to mention it was dificult for develpers to easily do such things. now that the PS4 will us much more usual PC architecture, Developers should be all over that shit, and also gaikai.

Sano said...

The streaming using PS3 wifi is not bad. I played games like God of War collection in real time using it. However, through a router conexion, it's annoying. Anyway, I think streaming will function well even in PS4 out of America and Japan due to the quality of conexions in other countries.

PSP in japan is still alive and now some developers are trying to create cross play fun with PS VITA, especially God Eater 2, which is confirmed to be going to release in both platforms. Thank god i still have my psp, now i can lend it to my friend and play god eater together when it releases for VITA

Erwin MadJelly said...

Now it shows that the Price drop of the VITA did attract the Sony japan fans, and now that the latest news say "PS4 and Vita is created simultaneously", this means PS4 and Vita are going to get along well. Let's hope that the sales continue and Sony develop the perfect PS4.

PSNintyGamer said...

Yes, while the Wii U is outselling the vita worldwide. Why don't you call me the next time PS vita outsells 3ds?
