Critics have been slamming Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for only having 45 minutes worth of Singleplayer gameplay coupled with "Unplayable Multiplayer", more details inside........
Pocket Gamer awarded the game 4/10, saying it is too easy, can be beaten in 45 minutes, and relies on difficulty spikes to slow progression. "It's not difficult in the slightest, missions are short, and if you're a seasoned Call of Duty player, you can probably beat the entire story mode in 45 minutes," said reviewer Peter Willington.
"However, the game attempts to counter this by being brutally unforgiving in certain spots, usually by adding hostages or a timer.
"Multiplayer was said to be the "worst offender", with only a handful of matches played in two hours of attempting to connect to servers.
Willington concluded: "Everything about Declassified is a massive middle finger to the fans. It's a £45 mistake for you to make this Christmas, driven to purchase it on a wave of excitement from Black Ops II on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

That sucks. Had hopes for this title.
I can't speak for the singleplayer as all I did was play the tutorial. I'm having a ton of fun with the multiplayer, though. I've had a couple of connection issues, but not many overall. In my opinion it's worth it just for the multiplayer. :)
I had no problems whatsoever with the multiplayer! Sure, the campaign mode is ridiculously short. I'm talking 3 minute missions, but that was the point from the beginning! The game was already meant to have the multiplayer as its strong point. I personally don't regret buying it at all.
There are one or two bugs, every now and then it doesn't work, but after two matches it was working fine for me! :)
So far possibly the best game for vita, awesome graphics, awesome game and little difference from the console version.

to be honest, this is a very harsh review, multiplayer, is absolutely awesome, it is intense and fun, and rewarding, just because they had one little problem they deem it a bad game...unbelievable :(
Never had one problem. Here's my two cents...These review sites, never got their copy so have been drawing blood as much as they can. It's portable is the single player suppose to be in depth and time consuming, granted it could have more added and it might. I bought this game for multiplayer though Activision better gives us some more maps and more game modes.
If Activision greenlighted Zombie mode for this, it would have much more optimism, all this hate towards the game is Activisions blame, i think for the time frame 6 months at most for Nihilistic, they did a good job.
Here's some notes to make this game a pure gem.
- Add Co-op onto Hostiles two gunning would be such a laugh and add much more longevity.
- Add maps, a little bit bigger than the current crop.
- Add 2 or 3 more modes, a last man standing mode, capture the flag, hold the fort. Those types it'd be chaotic and fun.
If you can be a little forgiving, this game is actually fun!!, don't be put off by these 'review' sites if you read there NFS:MW Vita reviews then played it on Vita you'd see most of these sites don't review they compare. That's a not a review people! NFS:MW lost barely any luster, which is rare in a port.
If you are skeptical then hold of paying full price it'll drop but i can see DLC content coming very soon and if you can pick the game up at around £28-30 or $40 in the US then that with added patches, more maps, modes. It'll be worth it!
Just like an Activision game to be 5 bucks more than every other game, Black Ops Declassified is an overpriced mess, don't waste your time or money. Speaking of which, it has no Zombies? That's basically the whole reason people are buying the far supperior (not a high bar) console version. Why would you not include the best thing you have going for your series? This just blows my mind on so many levels.
I think the fcukin game rox, haven't tried SP yet but multi works great, controls great, looks great, and is fun!
Also most the maps are close quarter so you get alot of kills, i got like 24 kills on team death match, you dont even notice the 4 vs 4 limit. but there is alot of spawn camping on the map with all the crates
Right...Giant Bomb definitely have their copy, definitely played it all the way through, and definitely hate the game for what it is.

I hear black ops 2 for ps3 is 'unplayable' but that would never hinder the reviews. the vita version has some small bugs that v1.01 should fix. I hope other reviewers do not slam it for this... but we already know the answer, they will slay it.

Having not played the game yet, I can't say how long the campaign is and all. What I can say though, the multiplayer issue seems like it's a non-issue. There's been a rise in launch day multiplayer servers in the recent months with many new games, so I would think that it's safe to assume that this game is no different. Give it a few hours maybe a day and the servers should be functioning like they should. Hopefully they release a demo, I'm curious to see the game in person, 50 bucks it a bit of a risk for something that has been very wishy washy from the get-go.

this game is great online, im also loving the time trails, listen ppl dont miss out because of reviews check out youtube footage most ppl are saying its great for multiplayer, these bs websites claiming the online is bad have some something against the vita, ive never played a better fps on a handheld... also it has gone down in price on amazon, get involved.

Is everyone skunk drunk? This games graphics look exactly like Resistance Burning Skies Which isn't a bad thing as I like RBS. But to anyone who says that COD's graphics are better you are out your rabbit ass mind! I love the Vita and now thanks to the improved Skype it is my cellphone and gaming system. And very soon thanks to PS+ support and a better web browser and soon after Sonys cloud streaming service that will allow us PS Vita owners to play PS3 PS2 and other quality games the PS Vita will be a gaming beast! And sells will improve.
Although you make some very valid points and your clearly in support of the vita (hopefully we all are) I think we deserve better. This is a clear case of "false advertisement". They knew the game sucked ass before launch. Trust me I want to like this but the proof is in the pudding (so to speak). Speaking from myself, being a dedicated handheld gamer, I love a deep, lengthy handle game (i.e. Golden Abyss). Developers have the wrong idea about gamers not wanting to play long handheld games. I play my vita more than my PS3, while at home. It seems they are trying to kill the vita and Sony is helping them. This shit (Declassified) is $50.00, are you fucking serious, just because its a COD game. Signs of the times, things are getting worst for the VG Industry, no matter how pretty things may look, we, the gamers are paying the price because their giving us what we ask for (shit). Just my opinion.....
sometimes i think reviewer sites are bought by nintendo or xbox and make the writers do TERRIBLE reviews for psvita games, becuase the have been various vita games that havent been bad at all and they still get very bad reviews

clearly a game developed with 'Lazy' stamped to it. The missions could have easily been worked more on, the multiplayer maps are claustrophobic and there's no Zombie mode.
The game's clearly rushed, how can someone ever in their right mind release a $40 title with less than an hour of campaign and without any additional side mission ?
getting the game for $20 just for the multiplayer would be a decent deal, but anymore for and awful, unfinished and unsatisfying experience is a waste of money. And speaking of wasting and loosing money why not easily port the same console game with cross-play or without.

There's no proof in no reviewer's pudding! Dude, do u have the game? cod is all about the multiplayer! These short missions are just fine for on the go gaming! I spent $50.00 on uncharted and enjoyed the Hell out of it but after I finished the game, that was all! No replay value for my $50.00! This games keeps me online having fun! I've got so many hours in already, I think I got my money's worth! Look, if u play cod for an in depth campaign, don't buy this. if you love competition and fun multiplayer, you will be glad you bought it! It is the closest thing to a true cod game on any mobile device!

Tried it ( from a friend of mine ), but don't want to buy it.
Again, the multiplayer is fun and I would totally buy the game for multiplayer alone ( for a downloadable price of course ). But the single-player is just awful and the length of it is unbelievable.
i think game critics have a a problem being happy with anything on vita....they really expect the game to be like a ps3 game...lol.... cod bod is a good game.... sure there a lot missing... but anyone can pick this up and c that its cod...
I have had some problems with connecting to multiplayer and some mid game drops but I find it far from unplayable. It is the best hand-held FPS I have ever played but it is hard not to be disappointed. The Vita is capable of much more, and the game reeks of being rushed to release. I think the press is just loves to beat up on Vita games honestly. Not the greatest game ever, but certainly not deserving of the beating it has taken.
Wow... even Official Playstation UK mag gave this a 4/10. RIP Vita.
got the game since day one, btw i must mention that the game was acctually 39.99 british pounds and then until the afternoon it was 44.99 i think. multiplayer gets disconnected pretty often and its annoying. another matter is that the maps lack creativity.
Here's my take on this. I went out the other day and picked this up because .. well... the gameplay actually looked pretty good from all of those YouTube videos.
So far, the campaign mode is just plain awful. Extremely short campaigns, and bland. For a $50 game, I would have expected more meat. AI is awful or frustrating. Do not buy this game for the campaign mode. On the flip side, the graphics are much better than the initial screenshots and trailers we were shown a while back. Audio is fair, not great, but fair - the guns sound as you would expect and well.. there's a tiny bit of recoil ... I'm assuming they tweaked that to make it easier to handle on a portable.
Multiplayer, well.. it's not bad! Though, don't be surprised if you get spawned into gunfire. I was hoping they would fix that from past experience. You'll probably have to adjust the sensitivity of the controls and at times the maps feel way too small - at the same time 4 vs 4 isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it's actually quite fun.
Overall, I feel let down that this game actually costs $50 - especially after Sony hyped it at the game shows - this game is really lacking in meat to warrant such a high price tag. At the same time, the only reason why I haven't taken this back to the store is because the multiplayer is kind of addicting.
I can only hope that this franchise gets another chance at making a proper COD game for the Vita.

Very very harsh, the game is completely awesome. Dunno why critics are so negative towards the Vita, its as if they want it to fail. I have a vita and am loving every minute of it. So i say FUCK all these assholes! COD on vita is awesome!! nuff said.
I couldnt even play multiplayer. i get kicked out from a lobby and cant get access back to multiplayer i just see the artwork. so yea i know where this reviewer is coming from. its fuckin frustrating. kudos to those guys who can play online because i cant!
I like this game but it doesnt seem as good as resistance, I mean the SP, also burning skies had better graphics, the only thing that is better on this game is the multiplayer
To all those who crapped on Nihilistic and COD Declassified before they played the game, admit it, you were wrong. The game is good, not great, but good and one of the better Vita games. I recommend everyone to buy it just for the multiplayer mode. I don't even play my PS3 anymore cause I'm too busy playing my Vita.
Miserable effing failure... Wrapped sp in about an hour, and after two days cannot figure out connection issues. Will get me into game then immedietly boot me. 2 days straight. Thusly, as i cannot rate the multiplayer, this was a bigger waste of money then armored core 5

What up D.! I wasn't picking on COD's game play as I like Resistance. I was just stating that there is no leap in graphics between the 2 games.

I get slaughtered in hostiles lol. My record was 6 waves but sometimes I cant even survive 1or 2! Especially when the enemy starts using rifles. Then I think, "oh now I'm fucked". Lol . Got any tips to help me survive longer?
Golden Abyss was long...but not deep. I played it twice and had no reason to touch it again. Declassified is the opposite. It's short, but fun as hell. Replay value is the best among any shooting/action game on Vita right now. When I review a game, I look for replay value and variety. Declassified's hostile mode and multiplayer certainly has that. If I wanted a long, linear game play, I would just watch a movie over and over again instead.

Ok I take that back it is AWSOME for multiplayer!!! My problem was everytime I tried to go online it would boot me to the menu screen Somebody said open the playstation store app before you start cod and ever since then it works perfect and it's awsome.

The matchmaking is really terrible. It just boots you out of matches every so often. Gameplay is good but it needs chat and better matchmaking.

Here is what I've been doing lately. On the first round find a spot on the map where it funnels the enemies but at the same time allows for you to have an escape route. For example, on Nuke house, the upstairs bedroom is a great place because the only place the enemies can come from is the outside and inside stairs, which gives you plenty of time to respond to their dot appearing on the map and it allows you to kill multiple enemies at once. If you get overwhelmed you could always throw a flash and hide behind the bed in the room. And if all else fails you always have the window that you can escape out from. Find places like that, where you have stuff to hide behind and its easy to kill alot of them. For some of the maps it is better to just keep moving around to spread them out, kind of like kino de tohten on black ops zombie. On these maps that you just cant find a suitable place, make a path and follow it on each round so that you know good places to stop and shoot along the path and ways to get out of it when it becomes to much. When it comes to care packages, you do not always have to get them. For weapons, if you are better with the weapons that you already have, don't switch them out right away, wait until you are low on ammo to switch. Also chose one gun to be your main weapon and one to be your emergency weapon. Your main gun should be the weakest, slowest or the gun you like the least, that way it runs out of ammo first and you switch that gun with the care-package Your emergency weapon needs to be a powerhouse gun that has alot of ammo power and speed, and it should only be used for cases when you get surrounded or overwhelmed. With kill-streaks, save them for higher levels. For mortar, only use it at the beginning of a round so that it kills the most people and makes the rest of the round easier. For sentry gun, find a place that gives you protection and funnels the enemies, wait until your map shows alot of them coming and then use it, because it dose not last long, or wait until you start getting overwhelmed. Always go for ammo, because it restocks your grenades and know when you might be getting overwhelmed, because two people might seem easy to deal with until you have two more coming from behind and blocking your escape. And most importantly USE THAT MAP. Follow these tips and you should get three stars on each one. :) hope that helps

I recently downloaded the ad-hoc muliplayer patch. Now I can't connect to any multiplayer match in one hour of trying. It either says room full or finishes loading the level, i get a brief look at the gameplay screen to choose a class and then it kicks me back to the menu. What gives.... I'm assuming it was like this before.

Of course its not gna be on the same level as black ops 2 but the multiplayer is fun and only has a few minor problems such as not precise controls.
I got the bundle from my wife for xmas. My only issues are the spawning points. These tiny ass maps(im tired of nukehouse already) and the sensitivity difference between running and ADS mode is not this big in the console versions. Ive gone thirty something kills with single digit deaths. Im not gonna lie. Im still playing it and having fun, it just feels rushed clunky and too simple
i cant connect it says found new players then says looking for players or it says all the players names and then starts and waits for players for 5 mins then disconects
its actually good, hostile mode is addicting but campaign does suck but multiplayer could have been alright but every 5 mins u get kicked

i got this game a month ago, and i can't put it down. the campaign is stupid, and i refuse to go any further than the second level (or whatever it's called). i wouldn't even call it a campaign, it's more like challenges. in any case, even with all the connection issues, i love playing mp online with a party of like 7 people, talking shit about each other, just having fun. sure, it's not even close to the best cod game, in fact it might be the worst (technically). but by general fps standards, that's still not bad. and the most important point: it's for the vita, a freakin' hand-held system! how awesome is that?

the all up 12 minutes of multiplayer i got to play were effin awesome. shame it took 4036 different matches to get that 12 minutes :( what gives??
