Turns out LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is not so big in Japan, more details inside.........
Last week in Japan LittleBigPlanet PS Vita only managed to shift 6,000 copies. Full list is below:

Hardware sales followed the usual trend 3DS sold over 61,000, PSP managed to shift 14,000 units and PS Vita again fell short of PSP with only 9,000 units sold.

Okay? LBP outsold Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Mario Retard 9.
The serie is very small in Japan. Both LBP2 and LBP PSP had very bad first week.(Especially LBP psp) and lets not forget Digital sales.
Disappointing, yes, but as sales of the console continue to rise, so will the popularity of the games, and that is when we will really start to see some improvements. Hang in there Sony.
And it did actually outsell LBP psp first week :P.
LBP has never had a huge following in Japan, though. Add the small Vita userbase to this, and it's hardly surprising that it sold so few copies.
And for those claiming that LBP sold more than Monster Hunter 3, that game has been out for a while - it was LBP's first week on the charts. No way LBP would ever outsell Monster Hunter 3 overall, especially on the 3DS which has been a massive success in Japan (unlike the Vita).
Games that have been out for ages and sold hundreds of thousands of copies!

It has about 30k preorders in the US so it should have a decent launch here.
What's to be surprised about, the Vita isn't big in Japan, the Japanese gaming community is very, should I say "Bias ?" towards what to choose between a title from a western developer or a Japanese one, not to mention the fact that LBP has a really small fan-base in Japan and also Sony has done a terrible job at advertising the game
( and this doesn't just go for Japan but anywhere. Hell ! a lot of my friends who have played and completed LBP 1, 2 and PSP never knew this game existed, I'd say the only thing that really attracted people to buy the game was the IGN score of 9/10.
But hey, maybe it sold better digitally. It is pretty disappointing, I'm enjoying LBPvita a lot now, playing the story, creating levels and trying out the Amazing games that people have created, it might not sell well, but I hope people appreciate the time, effort and money spent on this game.
LBP was never popular in Japan to begin with. So no its not a dissapointment. it was expected. If you look at the sales from the previous games as comparison its actually done quite a bit better. Its 40% increase from the psp version's launch aleast.

If this game doesn't sell well, I don't know what will. I love this game.
That's very bad news since that game was supposed to bring some new users to buy the console, let's hope assassin's creed liberation is good because otherwise this is going to be a really bad year for the vita, not even christmas will save them. Sony will have to make an extra effort if they want to keep the ps vita alive.
Sony is obviously waiting for holidays to boost sales, the bad thing is that the wii u is coming out with a great amount of launch titles. I think that bad timing have affected them in so many ways, the vita should have released in december last year in north america not in febraury, it was the best time to release since there was nothing new coming in that period of time last year. Now it's gonna be worse since everyone is going to spend their money on the wii u.
I own a vita but if I didn't have one I would honestly pick wii u instead of a vita considering that it's been a year with lack of games and nothing really interesting to justify buying a vita.
Japan doesn't care about LBP, which is catered more towards English speaking audiences. We need more games like Soul Sacrifice to come out already to fill the void for Asian gamers and push sales!

I think its doing pretty well in America, I cant find one copy at any gamestop or bestbuy. ( I hate buying digitally unless I have to.)
The vita isnt in good spot thats for sure but i am sure as hell that
when the holidays arrives Psvita sales will rise up
mostly because of the black ops bundle for ps vita.
As a vita owner i suggest you to not worry
just pick up the right games and you will have fun
i honestly think the wii u isnt really much of a threat. it's too much like whats out and what makes it unique can be replicated by a psv/ps3 combo. to make it worse , the ps3 and xbox dominate the market the wii u is trying to get a piece of while not offering anything too different. i think the wii u is late for the party and wont do much better than the vita is now.

seems like any time i come to see whats new with my ps vita hardware
that mostly sits around looking pretty, its nothing but bad news. bad
sales, no interest from devs, customers not getting what they want and
so on. Seems like this system didn't get the love it deserved and is
dying slowly like an abandoned baby. Such a pity! I'll still hold out
for more great titles..otherwise i should still be able to claim 10% of
my money back.
same thing happened to the ps3 when it came out. sales were slow slow, sony was losing money, but know is ahead of xbox360 and a gaming powerhouse... vita i believe will have the same fate, just give it some time for eeryone to see what we harcore gamers see in it ;)
japan has such wierd taste in games, there are a lot of shitty game on this list over LBP; samurai warriors!!!BRAIN AGE!!!! WTF?!! in my opinion LBP should have been at least fourth on the list.

The psp vita is dying and next year the 3DS is going to have killer games like Monster hunter 3 Ultimate, Monster hunter 4,Resident evil revelations sequel and many more....
You know MH3 ultimate has no online right? so that game will pretty much suck. Monster hunter 4 hasnt even been announced for the west and Resident evil revelations sequel is a rumour
