With the release of the Nintendo 3DS XL and New Super Mario Bros. The 3DS reined supreme and outsold the PS Vita with a whipping 26:1 ratio. Full sales figures are below:

The PS Vita has been stuck in a rut lately due to the lack of "killer software" however Gamescom is not far away and details for blockbuster titles such as Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified.

There's so many people expecting a price drop on the vita so they're waiting on buying it. Honestly the price for a vita isn't bad at all since there's smart phones out there that aren't even half the speed of a Vita and double the cost.
Let me run sce and you will see an increase in sales!!! I would unlock remote play!!! And release 4 to 5 new games a month!!! Have a couple free game codes with purchase of the vita... Everybody and their mothers would buy the fucking vita!!!! Fucking idiots!!!!
My question is why are they making so many psn games just for the ps3 and not for vita, there are so many psn games that would work and be great to use on the vita

I think your judgement is completely wrong. This is not a biased website. It's the administrator's duty to present both the bad and the good situations regarding the PS Vita. These posts represent a merely checkpoint or some sort of evidence to look back at when the PS Vita will do either worse or better in the near future.

not really, when Sony just launched the vita, it had poor sales, same for the 3ds, and if sony wants sales, it need a price that isn't more that a ps3, if they made it $200 they could sell really well, but they're too cheap to do that
I'm waiting to have some must play games and experiences I can't get elsewhere before I get a vita. I want the vita to do well so that no one competitor gets too cocky. Also the memory card price is waayyy to high. Once there's a solid base of must have games I'll bite the bullet.

ayeee what are numbers but toilet paper for my ass i don't care that the Nintendo 3d XL is ahead people have their gaming fingers up Nintendo ass so much that they don't see the potential that the VITA has and yes i understand that the VITA is a high investment to make and i get it but Nintendo has been on the boat long before Sony came up and they have leverage over the VITA due to the Japanese market and the customer base but long live the VITA and if you are worried about numbers more than being a gamer then i dont know what to say.

I don't understand why people are judging the PSVITA on how good at is by looking at the sales in Japan. I mean firstly looking at the sales hardly proves anything and why always Japan ? Nintendo hardware in Japan always sells better, it has the right hardware and software for the right market. But if you look at the global sales It really isn't that bad, most of the time the 3DS does out sell the PSVITA ( mostly due to the cheaper price ) but not in a ratio of 25:1. All I'm saying is the PSVITA is selling well globally not selling greatly but well, besides it is a new piece of hardware that has yet to be explored.

I think that by this time we all know the 3DS is selling better, I simply don't need to read that every time I enter a site, and I know I can skip this news but come on, it's a Vita site and I read more things about how the 3DS is ahead than anything related to video games..
Problem is that the Vita has much more potential, I think Sony should cut off 50€, that way I think the Vita sales could fire up
Well none of the bad selling news were similar and this is so much different than all the other news that enter this category: 26:1. These news aren't to be generalized. These news are meant for people that have interest in knowing exactly how the situation is developing. If you find these boring and annoying, then it's your own problem.
I was among those who bought the very first psp(fat) I payed something like 200$ back then) and the psp was is the same hole the vita is right now if not worse. The problem back then was expensive games, and to top it off cheap. It was bad, and as always people talked shit about the system going down the drain and how good the ds was. The fact of the matter is, the system has not been in the market long enough for people to be worrying about it! The vita came out with a lot of good games but they were all games that we already had on our home systems, but not because the games suck! In my honest opinion, sony can be making a shit load of money on the vita if it had the capability of playing PS2 and ps1 games. That alone would sell the vita a hell of a lot more than the 3ds and at the same time it would allow sony to work on more original games instead of watered down ports.
In Japan there are a lot of PSP games unavailable on PSN for the Vita, and the digital versions often cost more. That's actually a fairly big reason a lot of people won't buy the Vita, or they will buy it but won't get rid of their PSP. I have a friend who didn't have a PSP, but wanted to play KH: BBS, and since it's unavailable for the Vita he got a PSP instead- that's part of the issue there. Also price- why buy a Vita when you just want to play a specific PSP game and no Vita games appeal to you? Cheaper short-term to just buy the PSP until you want a Vita for some other game.
Well, they're already selling it at a loss, so I doubt it would go that low so soon. It isn't like Nintendo where they were arrogant and said "oh, everybody loved this, let's make it overpriced for higher profit margins!". I could see them bring the price down to around $220-230, but not $200. Also, it has better guts than the majority of tablets and smartphones currently on the market, and a lot of them sell for twice as much.

I don't care about the numbers, never had, I'm planning on getting a 3DS and a Vita so those numbers do not bother me a single bit, and these kind of news do not also bother me at all, I'm only asking why the need of posting these kind of news every week? the only reason 3ds is outselling psvita,as well as psp, is because they are cheaper. it wasnt until 3ds cut its price to $169 that ist started to sell. but not because something sells more means its a better product. i personally think 3ds sucks, and i percieve it as a gimiicky kids toy.
It pisses me off how nintendo manages to sell so many of these 3ds crap to ignorant people who in most part know little or nothing about gaming, just because theyre selling it dirt cheap. imagine your a hard working single mom. your kid keeps naggin he wants a portable; you gonna buy him a $250 vita or a hundred dollar cheaper 3ds? you dont give a damn its its garbage, or if theyre selling you a bunch of ports of 12 year old n64 games, as long as it shuts your kid up.

then they can lose more money (like nintendo) the 3ds is only JUST NOW selling at a profit after that price cut last year, miyamoto and the president took HUGE paycuts because they chose to, the sony executives could do so too, they're just way to cheap to do it, the vita IS worth $250, hell, I payed $400 to import it early, and it was worth that to me, but if they want sales, they either need a price cut, or they need to bring out that call of duty declassified game, and it needs to be GOOD, but they don't even know who's making the game itself, so that's a long shot.
sony is starting to die, and unless they change their game, they will continue down a dark road, at least if they don't they'll end with Final Fantasy Versus XIII

but they are phones. I bought my vita on the launch date and am very pissed. i have finished everygame out for it. Uncharted,lego batman,gravity rush,resistance,rayman,--- and there are no new games to play
I own a 3DS and a Vita, both are amazing. I honestly play the 3DS more, loggin in over 70 hours on one game (Pokemon Rumble Blast lol). But I just bought Gravity Rush, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid and Resistance for it. I like all 4 of the games. The Vita is having a slow start, but with Pokemon Black & White 2 coming out, there is no room for Sony in handhelds with Nintendo dominating with mega hit after mega hit. Pokemon and Mario prices never drop, EVER. Nintendo has dozens of Legendary games to stand on (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, Smash Brothers) all of which they own and can drop at a moments notice. Give Vita a chance, it is facing a gaming juggernaut. The fact that Vita sells at all against 3DS means it has some ground to stand on. I love my Vita and I love my 3DS the same. Both good tech, amazing graphics and a future in the industry.
Simple, PS Vita hasn't release any good games since launch. They should release 4 good games per month just like PS3. But I still wonder how Nintendo reached more than 200,000+. Is it just because of the new 3DS XL and a new Mario Game?
I'm in same situation as you.
I think the primary solution is for PS VITA to have more good quality games like God of War, new Metal Gear Game, Guitar Hero, Bioshock, and many more. They should produce at least 4 GOOD games per month. Sony and other third party developers isn't doing it right now even though PS VITA is very capable. It's a matter of: Sony CAN but WON'T.
I just became concern of the PS VITA sales because it is a factor of whether or not developer should create games for it.
For example, Disgaea: Absence of Detention was offerred for $23 at my local Gamestop store. It's original price is somewhere at around $39.99. When I had time to get the game at Gamestop, the staff says that they're out of stock and I cannot pre-order because the company DISCONTINUED releasing the game in physical card due to poor sales. I don't want to get it in Playstation store because it's expensive.
I'm worried that Sony is facing the problem of "No developers for PS VITA" at the momment that's why there's no good games other than Assasin's Creed and Call of Duty.
I have a Vita, and I'm still waiting for good games. Right now, I'm just playing Metal Gear HD Collection weekly so that I will not ran out of games.

I agree with you. A lot of times, I think that it's a matter of "Sony can, but won't". From this, what I mean is that Sony can make VITA very popular because of it's capability, but they just won't do it. Or maybe they are having problems getting more developers to produce good games. For example, I saw some incomming games like WWE '13 or Fall for Cybertron, but they will only do it for 360 and PS3, not VITA. To me, that was sooo disappointing!
The psp sells due to hacking. A psp you can have evry single psp game free as well as nes, snes and gba games for free. Thats why the psp sells.

Hmm, maybe. I use to stay a lot on gaming websites and each week there was an NPD with all the sales of each console globally, so I'm used to that.

his site is awesome ,it give the best unbiased information about the vita good or bad .this is a comarison between he 3ds sales and he vita.... good information .Second,the vita is built so well it should be expensive . it is fast,has gps playys games better than anything else! and acording to youtube can take a hammer tothe screen . sounds worth a few bucks to me

This title was very misleading.
The Nintendo 3DS has outsold the Ps Vita by 26:1, but the 3DS XL hasn't. Fair enough they are the same unit but in different sizes. But that's the upgrade to the older hardware (in size). So it isn't the 3DS XL that has out sold the Sony console.
Also, the 3DS has been out for way longer. A good 11 months apart (if you're looking at the Europe release dates), or 10 months apart for the Japan release.
This will give a company a bigger range of sales within this amount of time. Also Nintendo took the price cut around 5 months after it's release. The Ps vita has been out for almost 6 months in the EU. It still has time to take a price drop and then make it's profits.
When your comparing 18 months of retail to 6 months of retail. You are going to get a difference in numbers.
Keeping in mind that there is a 26 to 1 ratio between the two handhelds. But if Sony does follow the same route as Nintendo and drop it's price just before Xmas along with the list of AAA games, you will see that ratio get smaller.
Well said frnd this is wat am alsways used to say..the quadcore smartphone price is about 35-40k where the most powered ps vita which has quadcore and even additionl vdo memory is only 20k..i dnt knw y somany guys say it as costly but i accept in game cost its too costly to buy fr a handheld..c even thr dualcore iphone costs abt 40k double the price of ps vita where Vita is double the power of iphone 4s..

Yeah, but that's not the only reason. I know people that literally have no interest in hacking a PSP, and they just buy one to play some games they want, the Vita doesn't interest them at the current moment, and it's just a lot cheaper right now. Similar stuff happened to the 3DS when it released.
Oh, I also forgot. Based on the games, Nintendo 3DS has a wider demographic target than PS Vita.
Nintendo 3DS is aimed MOSTLY at: Male and Female for both kids to adults. Although not all adults loves video games anymore.Still based on the games, PS Vita is only aimed MOSTLY at: MALE teens to adults. Also, Hardcore gamers will definitely enjoy the Vita from teen to adult.So far, there aren't any games for Vita that most female and kids will enjoy. So far, the cool games for Vita that I can think of are Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Uncharted, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Stardust Delta. This is not a complete list.Kids and female may enjoy Plants vs Zombie, Mutant Blobs attack, etc. But they like Mario more.So what I'm trying to say is that even if there are lots of COOL Vita games, 3DS will still continue to outsell the Vita simple because of their demographic target audience.

3DS played MGS3 dude. Gaming isnt about power and wether or not ur graphics suck, its about the GAMEPLAY. God, thats why its called a VIDEO GAME. Dont you call me a fanboy cuz I own both and they both have their own pros and cons. The thing is, I have more complaints for the Vita than I have for the 3DS. Sony has the capacity to make the Vita better, problem is, they're just sepweeping it under the rug while they're focusing on their other endeavors.
Also, for other Vita guys there, you call the 3DS gimmicky? What do you call the back touch screen of the Vita? A necessity? Heck, I only use the backscreen to go down a rope in Uncharted.

3DS is not garbage, Vita isnt garbage, it just so happens that Nintendo focused on the 3DS and exerted effort to make it a true gaming experience

I was all out for Nintendo a year ago and I still support them. I'm a 3DS ambassador owner and I like the 3DS. Both platforms are nice, really and there's just some games that the Vita can handle that the 3DS can't. I hope the Vita recovers, for the benefits of us consumers. Competition is good.

The Vita Has It All...Great Software...Nice Price...Awesome Features (The Social Ones Are The Most Impressive) But Saddly It Lacks From What We Call Major Titles Like COD Or Killzone etcetera...but these major titles need time to be developped in a proper console alikeness way...so stay sharp people the Vita will soon unleash it's true power at gamescom 2012 And It will outsell this nintendo crap in a few more months hopefully.
