"More people need to buy PS Vita" For A Final Fantasy Port To Happen

Final Fantasy XIV's producer reveals that a PS Vita port of Final Fantasy XIV is possible but not right now, more details inside..........

When asked about a PS Vita version of Final Fantasy Naoki Yoshida replied with:
"Technically it'll probably work – you could scale it down and get it running. The problem is that in an MMO one of the most important things is the network and so, you know, if you're in a party with a lot of different people in a raid and someone's on the Vita and they have a very... you know, it's not a stable network connection then you're going to be a nuisance to your party members. So global internet networks need to be better. And then also, just more people need to buy the Vita."
Let us know if you will play Final Fantasy PS Vita in the comments below!

A single-player RPG for the Vita would be better. Making a network connection mandatory would be too much hassle--3G couldn't handle it, and Wi-fi (especially GOOD Wi-fi) isn't widespread enough.

What makes this guy think that there's anyone interested in a port for FF XIV which was one of the worst ff's ever? even if the vita start selling a lot, I'm sure that people won't buy that game.

Levesquericardo said...

It's safe to say that people would rather buy a port of ANY other FF game for the Vita.

Want a port that would sell you a tons of Vitas SONY? You should bring Final Fantasy VII : Crisis Core HD and I can assure you that it would be way better than these stupid new Final Fantasy's with their meaningless stories and gameplays, plus Final Fantasy VII's Story is the best in my opinion...I mean there's not only the game but there's the awesome movie Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children so in my opinion it's the most successful Final Fantasy yet and porting it might be a good idea.

Whatever happened to Final Fantasy: Type-0 getting an HD release on the Vita? There were several sources and people inside Square-Enix that confirmed that the game was being localised for western release, and would be sold as a Vita title. Then there was rumors that it was actually going to be a hybrid PSP/Vita game.

What would be awesome is if they released a compilation of Final Fantasy VII games- they could release Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, maybe a remake or enhanced version of Before Crisis, and maybe the enhanced version of VII being released on Steam.

Port? What about a new one?

in order for the vita to sell they need good games like final fantasy (personally i dont play it but i know it has a hudge crowd and ill be willing to try it out if it hits vita) so if it is release it would increase vita sales and broaden the final fantasy crowd

With trophy support!

Relytgninroht said...

Well of course it would have to have that. Games without trophies... Pfft.

what a bullshit!
i am a uncharted fan and i bought the vita becease of it.
if people do not want to buy a vita for FF then they are just not real fans.
Naoki Yoshida is turning the story in a opposite direction. ps vita needs these titles so it sells more! making games is not just to make huge profits but also to keep your fans happy!
i don't care becease i am not a FF fan. but for thse who are its a pretty as story!

I see people here don't have the slightiest idea what they're talking about. FF XIV was revamped in a new game, it's not that catastrophe it was in 1.0. And if the game, as it is now, came to Vita, it would be the biggest game ever for the system.

You all ned to read more and play a little bit less.

the one thing that stands in the way is licensing... last i heard they can't do a remake of FF7 no matter how much they AND the fans want it, because they simply do not have all the rights any more... someone who was involved in the original game (dunno who) is withholding his rights to the game and so they can't legally remake it. The new PC remaster they CAN do because they already have a PC version. But to do an entire ground up remake, they need all the original game rights.

'course i haven't looked at this in a long time, so maybe somethings have changed... but i know for sure countless people would LOVE an FF7 remake with all brand new graphics and smoothed out game play controls.

StarWallace said...

mmm i see where you are comming from and i agree but i really just don't want to see FF13... i cant even finish it on my PS3...

I'd rather see 12 get a remaster/remake because even though the battles had that same pick attack and wait with single character control, you still have enough control to give directions to your allies about what attacks to use and you can control your characters individual movements and try to evade attacks. In 13 you control one one character ever and can only pick your own attacks and have NO control of movement. Tie that to the gorgeous graphics that are merely painted on a canvas of painfully endless hallways... i just can't do it. FF12 was WAY better.

Stephen Allen said...

Not to mention 12 was a fairly long game, took me about 4 times longer to complete that than 13. Hopefully they go back to how 10 and 12 were rather than 13 style for future FF games.

Wow the vita situation right now is so similiar to the 3ds situation at the same point in its lifetime. THQ and Ubisoft said the same thing about the 3ds in July-August 2011. Thats when saints row 3ds and assassins creed for the 3ds were cancelled. It's a vicious cycle because it needs games to get sales but developers won't put games out until sales increase. Therefore first party developers (meaning sony) are responsible to get some unique games out because third party developers won't (besides ubisoft and a couple of other developers of course)

Relytgninroht said...

I wasn't saying a FF VII remake- I was saying they could just port the ENHANCED version that the PC is getting over to the Vita.

StarWallace said...

I actually think FFvs13 looks quite interesting placed in a whole new setting, more real world based, and unconnected to FF13. My only hope is that the battle system isn't as flat as 13 and 13-2... though there hasn't been any word on a Vita counterpart for that game... there's barely been any info at all...

StarWallace said...

Oh i see... yeah who knows maybe. Not too sure on the logistics of that one. But they do already have a PSN version of the game and all the PS1 classics (or some anyway and FF7 should be among them) are coming to the Vita pretty soon.

Dennis Eat You said...

they are making a 2.0 that suppose to change everything about XIV

Stephen Allen said...

Well i guess sqaureenix arnt too bad, they did listen to what the fans wanted and prefered when 13 came out, and they added alot of the improvements into 13-2 (which was alot more classic FF like compaired to 13) so hopefully theyve learnt there lesson and such  :) looking forward to future FF games

In RO, when playing multiplayer the graphics quality are drastically lowered, same with the psp MH games, it's much like RemotePlay quality. Nobody admits this because some Sonyfags just don't know how to tell a bad from a game anymore

Celcees said...

You shut the hell up! I doubt you even played ff xiv. 2.0 isnt even out yet and the game still has plenty of people and full market wards aka auction houses.

FFX will come to the Vita eventually, won't it?
