New details regarding Killzone Mercenary have emerged including the engine, more details inside.........
Designed specifically for the PlayStation Vita platform, Killzone: Mercenary is a first-person shooter that makes full use of the device’s graphical and input capabilities. It was built on the same powerful engine as Killzone 3, and it enhances the familiar twin-stick FPS control scheme with touch pad functionality for interesting new gameplay possibilities.
With Killzone: Mercenary, we want to offer PlayStation Vita owners a fresh perspective on the brutal conflict between ISA and Helghast – literally. For the first time in a Killzone campaign, you’ll be fighting alongside Helghast forces as well as ISA specialists, carrying out missions that the regular soldiers just won’t or can’t.
As a mercenary you’re free to decide which tactics and loadouts you’ll use to fulfill your contract; your employers will reward you with state-of-the-art weaponry and cold, hard cash as long as you get the job done. But what is the price of that freedom – and will you discover it before it’s too late?
Killzone Mercenary is set for a 2013 release.

where is the game play footage they speak of?
Yes. Where is the footage? Any hint of multiplayer? I think the addition of a solid 8v8 multiplayer could help move Vitas en mass.
New details?
My mistake, Sony sent me this is a press statement along with the old trailer, btu the details are new such as the engine etc....
where is the game play footage they speak of?
It's fine for me even it will be planned to be released on 2013, just take your time!!
Follow the link to the Sony EU blog. The trailer is there.
The game has great potential, and I'm happy GG is working on this one. Using the same engine as KZ3 is a good start! Here's hoping they deliver a good multiplayer experience with at least 8v8 and enough customization to keep us hooked. Thanks for sharing Snake.
"with touch pad functionality for interesting new gameplay possibilities." no thank you because of this i am not buying it. i dont like taking on hand off to finger fuck my screen
i hate that all that touching the screen shit is manditory i just wanted a PSP with a second joystick and some better graphics why must you ruin shit
Im not too keen on the back touch pad but pointing on the main front touch screen to direct grenades i like (and find easier to aim)!
That would have been my choice too for the psp2, but they needed to add something to make up for the lack of r2/l2/r3/l3 buttons. And touch screens seem to be mandatory for everything these days, even if you dont want a toouch screen, it'l come with one.
Hopefully the killzone vita team will put multiplayer games to the test and see what it can handle, what ever the outcome i think we'l see vitas true capabilities.
nice but why 2013, ahhhh! guess i'll be occupied with lbp vita and AC liberation till then....
Geez, you can still move and aim with the joystick.
Touch screen is mainly for small things like opening a door or doing some other non primary things.
Unless if your fingers are too lazy to move, some touchable functions are quite neat.
@dark rift, why the fuck did you buy a vita then you tool?
So Sony sends you information because of how popular this site is?
That's what's wrong with the gaming community nowadays. Its expectations grew too damn high and more and more people complain over meaningless things. They need to catch their breath for a second and simply realize how much the gaming industry changed in the last 10 years. Not for one second, neither the touchscreen not back touchpad, caused me any problem at all. I guess that those that can't reach the grapes, say they are sour. I still can't believe I'm holding such a powerful and awesome devices in the palm of my hands. I got my first current gen gaming console 5 years ago and since then I dreamed of having a portable device with those graphics on the go. And here you have it! Such meaningless complaints should never be taken into consideration.
I prey that they don't skimp on content because it's on the vita. Some Dev's got the idea that all handheld gamers are created equal. I (speaking for myself, selfishly) would love an intriguing story, solid game play, DLC, etc. The graphics look amazing along with the use of the tough screen. There has been a couple Vita games attempted to be a good shooter (some succeeded) but this can possibly be the one, ask Orical. 2013, are we there yet?
Finally, someone gets it, but they'll never be happy. It's like wanting to get with sexiest girl on earth and then when it happens you complain that her feet are too big.... Be happy you have her you ungrateful (bad word) people.
Lol, I wouldn't say big foot, but a little fat at her armpit area. No one can get rid of that no matter what. D=
But yeah, gamers should be more grateful. Now I'm not saying we should buy every piece of crap, because we don't sneeze monies, but when such revolutionary device get released and you see people putting their whole soul into it and making something really fantastic, you can't sh*t on their work. When I saw and also test how well the AR games work on PS Vita I was shocked. I'd so love to have more of those, but more full fledged. I'd love a PS Vita version of EyePet.
I'm an Angry Birds hardcore fan. I own all the games and their
DLCs on my iPhone and 3 star'd all the levels, got all the feathers and everything. Each time a new update of that game was released I was done with it in like 3 hours. Since I got the Vita I'm behind 3-4 major updates. I haven't even touched the game since then. Just saying, lol.
People should really support the PS Vita so much more. They'd do it so much good! Only good things will come from helping it. But patience is a rare thing these days...
that, and a price drop would be nice
I hope that they don't blow it with a 4 v 4 online multiplayer or else the Vita itself would start to become annoying with games that can only support up to 2 or 8 people max in a single match exp:"Resistance burning skies or call of duty black ops declassified"...this will decrease the sales literally this time because people will eventually get tired of these limited PS Vita servers and they would rather get an android or iOS device and play some decent online FPS that could handle up to 6 v 6 online multiplayer with large customizations for weaponry, gadgets, military support etcetera...So Good Luck "Killzone Mercenary" on making our PS Vita a better handheld for a better future.
Me too LBP then AC.2013 because most of the games took years to work in able to get a successful result.:D
I am a big fan of Killzone, and this would be my first First person shooting game on my Vita.
...or if your finger has boogers for picking your nose while playing! hahaha!
SO you dont have resistance bs? honestly its not as bad as everyone makes out, if you find it cheap somewhere get it!
its a decent first, first person shooter, maybe not for full price, but if you find it half price somewhere i highly reccomend it!
There's probably a news subscription area where he's getting emails with the news on them.
Quit lying to people, man. The game was brutal.
In your opinion, in my opinion theres very few fps's on the vita, and its worth a play!
Sites, Retailers and news outlets need to subscribe to Sony's press statement list, this gives you info on games etc....
Every time they mention Touchscreen/touchpad functionalities the trailer 'clicks' in mind. The trailer was packed with touch screen swiping for killing and what not, I don't have a problem with it. It's just that I really do hope they don't over use 'em.
Ok thanks :)
I agree about resistance. I enjoyed every minute of it, including online play.
But yet you were probably one of the first people to complain about how the psp would be SO MUCH BETTER if it had a touch screen when it first came out. Come on, atleast the developers are utilizing the vita to its full potential...crybabies, smh
