Resistance Burning Skies' senior managing producer, Frank Simon discussed why Resistance: Burning Skies will change the portable gaming industry, more details inside.......
Resistance: Burning Skies will be the first every portable dual analog First Person Shooter, and Frank Simon is very proud of this and has had this to say:
"The PlayStation Vita has a lot of toys that gives us a lot of ways to interact with the game," he said.
"For example, Resistance is known for its weapons, so what we tried to do was integrate those as smoothly and as seamlessly as possible into Resistance Burning Skies, and we did that by offering things like a secondary firearms front touch screen.
"So on the Vita, literally by taking your thumbs and tapping them onto your screen, spreading them apart, you can create a shield effortlessly and easily, and that's what the controls have been designed around."
The dual analog sticks will also give players the opportunity to approach the game like they would a traditional FPS. Simon says it's about giving the player options with how they want to play the game and removing awkward controls.
"It has to be as easy to get into as possible," he says. "The Vita has made so many things possible for us. Even when you think about the lowest level of implementation like a grenade in a first-person shooter: when was the last time you were able to get a grenade to go exactly where you wanted it to go? Well, you've got a front touchscreen, so you can go 'I want the grenade to go right there', and it works.
"As soon as you stop fighting the controls, it's an immersive experience and you're drawn into the game – that's when it's the most fun."
