Zipper Interactive Officially Bids Farewell

After a gracious 17 years Sony signs the papers and decides to officially close down Zipper Interactive, official statement inside.......

Sony has officially closed down the creators of classic franchises such as SOCOM and new kid on the block Unit 13, Sony official statement is as follows:
"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm the closure of Zipper Interactive, a Seattle-based internal game development studio that has been part of the global development operation of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS). The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS. Zipper has complete all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita. Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13."
Our best wishes go out to all who were affected by the closure.
Though the studio has been officially closed down, owners of Unit 13 will still be receiving daily challenges most likely courtesy of another 1st Party Sony Studio. Remember that though the creators have been shut down franchises such as SOCOM still have a chance of returning, but may be developed by a different studio and might even make appearances on Microsoft and Nintendo hardware.

Zipper Interactive also issued a statement via their Official Twitter Account:
After 17 years it’s time to head off into the sunset. A sincere thank you to all our fans for everything you've done for us. Farewell.
