Sony have revealed the amount of PS Vita's sold in Japan and the amount of software sales, more details inside.......
Article taken from IGN:
Sales data emerging out of Japan has revealed Sony’s hardware and software sales totals since launch. According to a report in Famitsu (via Andriasang), 790,633 Vitas have been sold in Japan in the nearly eight months since the system launched in December 2011. According to Sony, that figure is in line with the sales it was expecting, though previous reports suggested that Sony shipped as many as 700,000 Vitas for launch alone.
In addition, the top 10 best-selling Vita games in Japan so far have been revealed, adding up to a total of less than one million units overall. The full list is below, with the units sold to date in parentheses:
Persona 4: The Golden (188,782)
Hot Shots Golf 6 (118,985)
Uncharted Golden Abyss (89,390)
Gravity Daze (74,785)
Dynasty Warriors Next (74,718)
Tales of Innocence R (71,463)
Lord of Apocalypse (69,162)
Ragnarok Odyssey (65,318)
Gundam Seed Battle Destiny (55,527)
Disgaea 3 Return (54,902)
Sales of Vita have begun to improve in Japan, largely due to the success of Persona 4: The Golden. According to Famitsu’s report, Sony suggests that Japanese Vita fans will have more to look forward to in the near future, and that additional games could be announced at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
North American Vita sales still haven’t been revealed, though Sony announced that 1.2 million Vitas were sold worldwide as of February.

Drop the price just before the chrissie hols and do an LBP bundle - watch the money come rolling in.
No they need better games. Japan has got all these exclusive games for their customers. America ain't got shit in terms of games
What?! No Dream Club Zero in Japan's ten! lol. I believe the Vita's sales will pick up eventually. Right now its sale figures are just a victim of Sony's marketing strategy. But the Vita is a beast system. Once the Vita has full support from in-house and 3rd party developers alike, the sales should sky rocket, imo.
Went out in the shops today looking for some new games for the Vita, such as Persona 4, disgaea and any other jrpg's i could find, there was none, sadly there either not released yet or not released at all XD (UK) goddamit, i want 7 of those games above mentioned, and have 2 of them already, oh sony :'(
The Vita is a 10 year project, that is why is moving so slow. Just give it some more time and you will see how good game after good game pile up giving the vita even more value
the vita needs a rediculous big game explosion! no one will buy a vita with only a few games for the next coming year as its vision!
Although I agree with you and I am certain the Vita will have long term success, those customers who committed to early adoption (and help Sony work out their demographic) are naturally going to feel cheated when the buzz dies down.
Now I am not saying everyone in procession of a Vita right now harbors zealous towards Sony and developers, but I can understand why some might feel let down- especially those outside Japan not getting the full list of game's available yet.
as of february? didn't the vita released on feb for the western audience? if sony announced 1.2 million vitas sold by february, and japan has sold almost 800,000 to date, where did sony get 1.2 Million?
I manage to get the Japanese demo of Ragnorak Odyssey, it's really frikken awesome! they say it's going to be released here August 21 at my local EBGames I already preordered!! CAN'T WAIT!! But I think it'll be worth it!!!!
Not heard of EBGames, American? If so that means might be a month after August 21st we might see it, or not at all still knowing UK
