Sony: "PS Vita is in a pretty good place"

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president and CEO Jim Ryan believes that PS Vita has a great software line up, more details inside.........

PlayStation Vita is in a "pretty good place" thanks to its best-ever PlayStation launch line-up and a breadth of titles coming this year, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president and CEO Jim Ryan has told VideoGamer.com.

Quizzed on the subject of the PS Vita's software line-up, particularly the call for a broader spectrum of games, Ryan said: "We see pretty clearly in the pipeline round about 60 games coming this current year, so there's good breadth. There's Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, FIFA, LittleBigPlanet from our own studios. So we look forward and see there's breadth and there's depth, and I think having those four IPs on the platform in 2012 puts us in a pretty good place."

He added: "I've heard the comment about the perception that there's not enough software, but I've done all of PlayStation's platform launches - PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP - and the launch line-up of software for Vita was comfortably the best. The perception is commonly held, and I understand it - but I'm not sure that I agree with it."

So does Sony plan to grow the PS Vita business in the months and years to come? "It's the same as it always is - just offer the consumer the best possible content and the best possible value proposition, and market the platform in a lively and professional manner," concluded Ryan.

Let us know what you think of PS Vita's software in the comments below!

The 2 games I'm waiting on are Soul Sacrifice and LBP Vita! Other than that Vita's been the best gaming console I've ever owned!

What they need to do is get remote play working for all ps3 games, and get all the old downloadable PSP games compatible with the vita... the vita game line up is stellar, but they need to work on the other great features that they promised and have NOT delivered.

Hahaha, no. I don't want to kill my eyes. The vita has a very nice screen and doesn't need to ruin it with gimmicky 3d

I think the software is awesome. I love the games and even more awesomeness is under way. I can't wait for Madden 13 and Assassin's Creed Liberation. Both hopefully being the best handhold version that gives consoles a run for their money. And hopefully alot more innovation  comes our way in the form of apps. I would love a Japanese to English translating app that runs simultaneously with a game. Making Japanese games both playable and understandable. All in all though, i am really happy with my Vita this far.

That means you don't understand it properly, there's more to it than you might think.

The PS VITA is a 10 year project so no wonder the slow start. Some jump to the conclusion right away that the vita failed and everything just because right now is not selling as good as the competition. But the way I see it, this system is progressing slowly but steady. The high quality games are going to pile up over time.  The more the time passes, the more valuable this system is going to get. The best is still to come.

Quantity doesn't trump quality.. So far there's not many quality games on the vita.  Only a couple worth really investing in. I don' think people want to keep playing the same regurgitated games over and over.  I know I certainly don't.  I've been holding off on purchasing most of what has come out so far.  I want new titles, new IP's, fresh ideas!  No more ports, or "HD" updated versions of games!!!  Those can come later on. If I want to keep playing old games I'll pull out the old console and buy said games for pennies off of eBay or from the local used game store.  I don't want to pay near retail for some of this stuff, it's absurd.

It goes like this, people who dont own a Vita are the loudest detractors, and those who go out and buy one absolutely love it, I know this because I used to be the former and am now the latter, just take the chance, spend theoney. I swear you wont regret it.
